Brian Topp (b. 1989) is an award-winning Vancouver based composer, creative programmer, performer and sound artist. His works have been performed and premiered across North America and Europe including events such as the Electric Spring Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Splice! Festival, Shattering the Silence, Sonic Boom New Music Festival, the Further Series, the Bang! Festival and others. His main interests lie in developing interactive creative systems for realtime audio processing and creation, and developing new ways to create and interact with music.
Brian has had the pleasure of working with such groups as the Victoria Symphony, Quatuor Bozzini, Ensemble Contemporain de Montreal (ECM+), the Microcosmos String Quartet, the Bathurst Chamber Player, Colleen Richardson and the UWO Wind Ensemble, as well as a diverse array of solo performers include Paul Hung, Keith Kirchoff, Chris Eagles and Aaron Graham. He has served as composer in residence for the 2014 and 2015 Bathurst Chamber Music Festival, and was a recent collaborator with the 2015 East Side Art Song Collective. A winner of a 2015 SOCAN Young Composer Award, two times recipient of the E.A. Collins award for Composition, a Western Graduate Research Award (WGRS+) and a current holder of a full doctoral fellowship (4YF) for research and studies at the University of British Columbia.
